If you're reading this, it probably means you just learned that we're adopting a baby from Ethiopia! Now, this may have come as quite a shock to some of you, so we'll start by saying that for us, it has been anything but. This adoption calling has been a long, long time in the making - two years of the Lord breaking us, re-making us, and guiding us towards obedience. To be honest, what we envisioned for our lives a couple years ago looked just a tad different than this - our hearts and minds were chasing other dreams, other visions, and other priorities - none of which pointed to Ethiopia. But slowly, steadily, and surely, God paved the way for His plan, and as we write this, we feel immense peace, a quiet stillness as the Lord has conceived in our hearts a deep love for the child He has created for our family. The other reason you're reading this is because we love you and we want you to be a part of this journey, both in support and in prayer. And lastly, we hope you find encouragement along the way, because chances are, you've encouraged us along our way.
You may still be asking: Why? Our simplest answer: James 1:27 "Pure and lasting religion in the sight of God our Father means that we must care for orphans and widows in their troubles."

Congratulations!!!! So excited to follow your journey. Its amazing to see God put the peices together for HIS perfect timing. I remember so clearly the Lord working those things out as we started our journey nearly three years ago. Committed to praying for you, your sweet babe, and the process as you seek His face through it all.
ReplyDeleteOh and hi, I'm Erica...God just moved us to Florida this summer and He saw fit to call us to your uncles church. I'm sure we'll meet later this month. Many prayers for you both.
Just read about you on Rachel's blog. :) I wanted to pop in and say congratulations on beginning the adventure of a lifetime! Praying for a smooth process and God's perfect timing.
